Crystal Harper, a Northwest Arkansas native, opened her business in September 2009 — a dream she'd always had, though she never planned to launch it in the middle of a recession. Her grandparents believed in her enough to put up their home as collateral for her loan. It's humbling to think they risked losing their home if the salon didn't succeed. After months of anxious phone calls checking in on payments, she reassured her memaw that if it came to it, she'd lose her own home first and move in with them before that ever happened.

She married her husband, Drew Harper, in July 2013. After 3.5 years of infertility, they turned to IVF — three rounds, seven years, and three miracles later, their family was complete.

During her last IVF round in 2022, with her lease coming to an end, she found herself dreaming of relocating her salon to the Pinnacle area — the same part of town where she'd started her career years before. With a lot of prayer, a few key connections, and no small amount of patience, the contracts were signed, and HALO by Cabin Red, A Salon officially opened its doors on May 30, 2024.
